ExperiencesMath Mode
An SBA studio and interactive math lab in one workspace.
Math Mode gives math classrooms a place to plan school-based assessment, run interactive lessons, and collect real evidence of understanding. Students work inside manipulable mathematical instruments rather than answer boxes, so what a teacher sees is the construction a student made, not just whether a final number matched.

What Math Mode does
Interactive tools across six strands
Number lines, ten frames, base-ten place value, factor arrays, coordinate grids, and instruments for fractions, ratio, percentages, powers, order of operations, patterns, variables, and measurement.
Two teaching frames per tool
Open Workbench for exploration and Guided Notebook for scaffolded instruction. The same instrument serves both, so a lesson can move between discovery and direct teaching without changing tools.
Mistakes you can inspect
An incorrect answer stays on screen with the divergence highlighted. The student corrects the construction they built instead of starting over, and hints appear only when asked for.
Evidence that distinguishes support
A challenge completed after a worked construction is recorded as supported completion, not mastery. Progress reporting stays honest about what a student can do unaided.
In practice
How a cycle runs.
- 1Plan the assessmentPick the topic and challenges, choose the shell mode, and set what counts as evidence.
- 2Run the lessonStudents construct answers inside the tool while the teacher watches progress in real time.
- 3Review and respondMastery projections separate independent work from supported completion, so intervention lands where it is needed.
Connected to the platform
- Cohorts and rosters come from the shared Hub directory — no separate class list to maintain.
- Launching from the Hub opens Math Mode already scoped to the right cohort and term.
- Progress events stream back to the Hub's live activity feed.
